Two French-language public school boards unite their efforts to mark 400 years of French presence in Ontario

Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l’Ontario (CSPGNO) and Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario (CSPGNO) are working together to provide a leadership camp for their secondary school students from across both boards’ territories.
From October 27th to 29th, approximately 75 students meet at the Canadian Ecology Centre in Mattawa to take part in a dynamic activity that fosters sharing and development of leadership skills. This initiative encourages students to develop a relationship with their respective communities and fosters a sense of belonging to the Francophone community. The program includes activities and discussions which allow students to better understand the richness and the development of Ontario’s Francophone community over its 400-year history. The participants are encouraged to make their contribution to the Francophone community of today by displaying leadership and becoming involved.
Coordinated by dynamic personnel members from Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord and CSPNE, this camp promises exciting discoveries to its participants. The organizing committee has prepared an event schedule that fosters learning and development in both individual and group contexts.
Various activities will allow students to discover different aspects of leadership, community involvement, communication skills and the development of one’s own identity. Special guests Céleste Lévis and Yves Doyon will be in Mattawa to take part in this event. Students will have the opportunity to explore the concepts upon which universally held values are based, such as respect, cooperation and openness and to take part in workshops facilitated by various speakers. .
This joint initiative by the CSPNE and the Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord ensures the development of new school and community leaders who will well prepared to help build a proud and determined community.
