Radio-Chaud music contest ends with fantastic finale

Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord students made their mark at the Grand Finale of the Radio-Chaud14 music contest on Thursday May 19th. On stage at Collège Boréal’s concert hall, and with live streaming on the Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord website, seven groups presented their song in front an energetic and supportive crowd.

With help from experienced artists, seven groups of secondary school students experienced the creative process of song writing, including writing lyrics, composing music and recording a video clip and a compact disc.

One jury was responsible for judging the groups in the promotional category of the contest, which included the groups’ posters and video clips for each song. The members of this jury were Sophia Bagaoui-Fradette, Strategic Communications Advisor at Laurentian University’s Office of Francophone Affairs, Jennifer McKerral, Music Outreach Officer at Music and Film in Motion and music group singer for Pistol George Warren, Melissa Rockburn, comedian, production director, costume designer and second assistant film producer and Denys Tremblay, freelance artist, actor, videographer, screenwriter and video editor.

Another jury had the difficult task of selecting winners in the song writing, musical creation, interview, and stage performance categories. Members of this jury were Michel Laforge, CBC journalist of the radio show Grands Lacs café and member of the Patrick Wright et les Gauchistes music group and Patrick Wright, musician, composer, songwriter and member of the Patrick Wright et les Gauchistes music group.
