The ‘Folie furieuse’ music contest promises crazy fun!

More than 375 students in grades 5 and 6 in Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario (CSPGNO) schools will put their musical knowledge to the test at the annual ‘Folie furieuse’ cultural competition to be held on Wednesday, February 28th from 10 AM to 2 PM at École secondaire Macdonald-Cartier.
In the 14th edition of this annual competition, students will take part in a quiz that tests their knowledge of French songs and songwriters and each school will present its lip-sync performance of one of the eleven songs that were studied in preparation for the event.
A jury, made up of Marie-Pierre Proulx, production designer and playwright in the Franco-Ontarian theatre community, Shawn Jobin, a singer-songwriter, rapper, slammer and DJ from Saskatchewan and Stef Paquette, singer-songwriter and actor in television and theatre productions, has been tasked with choosing the winning schools of the lip-sync contest and awarding special jury’s prizes to students who display particular strengths and talents.
The event will close with a musical performance by the band Groupe 17 under the direction of Guy Coutu and Jacques Grylls of École secondaire Macdonald-Cartier.
