Remarkable students from É. s. Hanmer will fly to We Day in Montreal thanks to WestJet

Thanks to the WestJet We Day experience, students and teachers from École secondaire Hanmer will fly to a We Day in Montreal to experience the best classroom ever over the course of an amazing day.

Please join us on Wednesday, February 15th, 2017, as 13 students from École secondaire Hanmer celebrate this golden opportunity to travel to Montreal to rally with thousands of students, artists and renowned speakers and share their passion for change. The celebration starts at 9:30 am as WestJet will be present to give students their plane tickets to this big day.

For the third consecutive year, WestJet and UNIS, the Francophone arm of the We Movement, have united their efforts to give deserving students the opportunity to join with thousands of like-minded youth as they attend We Day for the first time! This large-scale event features internationally-known artists and motivational speakers who share their inspiring stories of change.

École secondaire Hanmer is very involved in its community. Among other activities, the school held Bacon Bonanza, “a 100% pure bacon event” that allowed students to collect donations and contributions for the Elgin Street Mission in downtown Sudbury. Hanmer students also take part in We Movement events, such as the “We Stand in Silence” campaign to raise awareness for children’s rights. Last year, they raised $2000 to support a clean water project in Haiti for a community associated with the We movement. This year, École secondaire Hanmer students will celebrate their efforts at the We Day event to be held February 23rd in Montreal at the Théâtre St-Denis.

Recognized for its keen sense of innovation and openness to the world, Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord offers a French-language public education of the highest quality in eleven elementary schools and eight secondary schools in the communities of Markstay, Noëlville, Greater Sudbury, Elliot Lake, Sault Ste. Marie, Wawa, Dubreuilville, Marathon, Manitouwadge and Longlac.
